These are beautiful infant pictures of a very active girl Abigail. This was an amazing session with so many gorgeous images to choose from. I hand knitted the outfit that Abigail is wearing. It is truly amazing to see everything I worked on come together and produce some amazing images.
I am a big fan of white background. It is simple. It makes the subject pop. In this beautiful baby studio photoshoot with the little Abigail, I selected a few images and digitally added special effects. I love the way they turned out. I think the parents of this girl will enjoy it for many years.
During this baby photoshoot with Ali, I grabbed a macro lens to capture those detailed baby photos. There is nothing more precious than remembering those little fingers, leg rolls, fuzzy baby hair. It might not seem like a big deal in the moment, but these images will become priceless once those little fingers grow and those baby fat rolls lean out.
Letting the kids be kids during a photo session is the greatest joy. So rewarding observing them in their elements and documenting it for the years to come. Look at those eyes!
I loved capturing the emotions of this baby boy. The kids are so innocent and honest. I think this is what draws me to childrens photography.
Newborn photography is one of the most challenging types of photography. Newborns cannot be given instructions. They cannot be distracted with a sound or a toy. They have their own schedule. Baby Everleigh wanted to nurse for 90% of the session. Then, she slept for 15 minutes. It was just enough time to capture these heart melting moments.
Booking a newborn photo session is the best way to keep a memory of these first days of your baby’s life. These days are numbered and so precious. So many parents, overwhelmed and sleep deprived, skip the newborn pictures hoping that the cell phones will do the trick. They won’t. This little girl slept for 15 minutes during the session, but these images will last her and her parents a lifetime.
Newborns have a very strong startle reflex and get upset easily in their feet and arms are not supported. Gently proping their head and feet is crucial not only for getting those beautiful images, but also for having a very settled and sleepy baby during the session.
Some newborn babies are not deep sleepers. Great shots are still possible when the baby is sleeping restlessly during the session. Snuggling them up in an egg-looking wrap is one of the ways to get some nice shots.
I love photographing siblings during my newborn sessions. The unbreakable bond that already exists between these kids and their only few days old baby brother is so beautiful. You can already notice how much love and care they put into holding this little bundle of joy.
I love photographing with props! In this series of images, Baby Xavier was photographed in a custom wooden baby bed prop and the outfit as well as the bed cushion were hand made by me.
When a baby falls involve with a prop and really settles in, I work my camera angles along with pose micro adjustments to give the parents many unique looks to select from.
Sometimes simple naked baby photos is all you need. This little monkey was just over 5lb. I wanted to shoot him naked on a simple grey blanket to capture every wrinkle on his tiny little body. He was not much of a poser and by himself went into a position he liked, I rolled with the punches.
These are some beautiful shots of the brother and a sister. She did so well, my was smiling on the inside and outside.
Photographing toddlers is very tricky. The Lying down pose is beautiful, but kids under 3 years old will not do it. They associate lying down with nap time and will resist, squirm and try to get up. Not to mention, this type of behaviour would be dangerous with a newborn in their hands.
When baby Shayne was brought to my studio for his newborn photo session, I struggled to find newborn pants small enough to fit his just under 5 lb tooshie. Eventually, I settled for these grey pans. I feel that they not only look adorable, but also highlight the tininess of this little guy. He is absolutely precious.
I love simple background, little props and lot of baby personality! Since I have been photographing kids, I have been astonished by how much personality I can capture in one single photo session. The children are so unfiltered and honest. Excitement, curiosity, happiness! I love kids!
I absolutely love capturing beautiful baby pictures in a simple timeless fashion. My goal is for the images to look great in 10, 20, 30, 50 years. I love neutrals! I love focusing on facial expressions, smiles, emotions! Baby Sophia rocked her milestone session. I love the way her images turned out.
There is something special about baby Sophia’s eye contact. Simply gorgeous little girl. Photographing her was such a delight.
Three months old Luka was going through separation anxiety during this session which is completely normal for babies at this age. This is when having mom sit close by helps immensely. Together we captured these precious facial expressions.
It might take some time for a young baby to warm up to a photographer during a baby photo session. This is why I always ask the parents to sit down, relax, chat with me and play with the baby for the first ten minutes of the session, prior to putting the little one under the studio lights. This allows the baby to get used to the studio environment and to me.
I photographed baby Layla when she was born. Imagine my excitement when she came back for her 6 months sitter photo session. Just like the first time we met, she was a delight to photograph. The curious face and so many smiles. I was so happy to capture these moments for her parents.
Baby Luka did not fully fit into this basket, but he loved being in it very much. I love the rich colours of this set up.
The babies in little pants are adorable. This is little William. He did not like me much, but he loved all the photography props I kept showing him. I did not get smiles, but I got awesome wide eyed eye contact and so many facial expressions and emotions: content, curiosity, fear, surprise. I would love to see how these facial expressions change (or remain the same) throughout the years.
Photographing babies in action is my next favourite thing after creating awesome portraits. I loved watching and quietly photographing baby William. Ironically, he looked at me unprompted and I compared this awesome connection with the camera.
Had a pleasure photographing baby Owen. He was amazing! The little chubster was only 6 months old and was just mastering the art of sitting! I loved his giggles. and smiles. I hope he will be back in my studio soon!
