I was very lucky last months to attend a newborn photography workshop in Toronto with a celebrity baby photographer Ana Brandt.
I booked it back in November and was counting down the days! I was terrified of getting sick and not being able to go! Thankfully, nothing like that happened and on March 22, I was able to attend.
Sooo, I did not sleep an entire night before the event! When I connected with other photographers who attended, turned out that I was not the only one. It was a drive from Mississauga to Toronto. So I had to get up early and get on the road to beat the traffic.
The class was to start at 8 am in Neighbourhood Studios in Leslieville. I was on the road at 6 and I could not believe the parking lot I was sitting in on QEW. Who gets up that early to drive down town? Apparently everyone. I actually just realized that I have never commuted down town via highway, so this was unexpected. But less about famous Toronto traffic and more about the workshop.
We learned newborn safety, wrapping, angles, and lighting from Ana. I never appreciated how such small camera/light angle adjustments can make such a huge difference in the quality of images. Had a few ‘A-HA’ moments. The props Ana uses are amazing! Furs, felts and texture layers are truly inspirational!
