As some may know, I was away from the country for some time this summer. Adrian’s mama booked me before I left knowing that I will be gone and this little munchkin was not due until I was supposed to be back. Well, he made his appearance early, so we photographed him at 3 weeks. When mama arrived, Adrian had no intention of being photographed. We tried and tried and tried and after 2 hours, I sent the parents home having taken the exact ‘0’ images their little bundle of joy.
They could only come back a week later to retry, so now we photographed a 4 weeks old. To my huge surprise, he ROCKED his session this time. We took so many gorgeous images, changed a few set ups. It was perfect. I was so happy. It makes me so happy to save these memories for the parents. No matter how sleep deprived they are, they will always recall this time with love…
When I sat down to edit the images, on a Saturday night with my venti cup of pumpkin spice latte. I edited and edited and was almost done. Then, my photoshop and Lightroom started to freeze up. After about an hour of trying to figure it out, I realized that my external hard drive that I was editing off has stopped working. I still saw the files, but I could export nothing from it.
Lesson for everyone! ALWAYS KEEP A BACKUP!
I have another external drive connected, but it does not backup in real time as I find that with photoshop and Lightroom and backup running, it slowed down my computer. The moral of the story, I lost all my work. All hours and hours of retouching went up in flames.
So, I got off the original files of the backup and re-edited the once again. I was very thankful for that venti pumpkin spice latte.
These are some of my favourite images from the session. I can’t wait to see baby Adrian grow!
